Musings of Weetabix: a thin slice of our life

Me: Thanks bebe, that salad hit the spot

Hubby: Yes, pesto is so versatile; you can eat it with a lot of things

Me: Ya, it’s great

Hubby: Hmmm. You could nearly eat it with Weetabix (looks thoughtfully at the microwave)

Me: Eeeuuuwww! Weetabix with milk and sugar microwaved into a mealy mush is bad enough, but with pesto?

Hubby: Do you know the Irish eat more cereal than any other country on earth?

Me: That explains a great deal.

Indeed it does explain a lot! Ireland has one of the highest, if not the highest, rates of coeliac disease. My flame-haired little sis got her diagnosis one year ago.

As a result my little family eats far less gluten than we used to, though Anglo-Irish husband, without fail, starts the day with Weetabix.
We live in the UK and there's an ad campaign for healthier Weetabix breakfasts on at the moment, but diverse as the suggestions have been, pesto has never cropped up. Blegh.

I have never seen organic Weetabix! I'll have to look into that one.
