Eye Candy

Image descriptions: First two pictures are of Ellie holding Dada's hand as we visit the farmer's market last Saturday. Last two pictures are of the painting I am working on currently. The first painting I have attempted since leaving Western Massachusettes in 1995 and my life as an artist there for the brightlights and high ambitions of Los Angeles and graduate school. I think I might call the piece "The Changeling" and it is part of a suite I have in my head and just need to paint. These are some details of it. You can see the drawing and the beginnings of the underpainting. It's an oil painting on a 30" by 40" canvas. This is how I have been keeping my sanity and what I do when I am not playing Medical Ju-Jitsu.

They're lovely. People always say that we should do something for ourselves. I'd almost forgotten that I used to draw and paint - maybe you're the nudge I need to move in the right direction.
Best wishes

Well I am glad I scrolled down to see what Medical Ju-Jitsu was--I thought I was missing out on something fun. Not FUN! I have no medical opinions on the GERD. I am so sorry she is having such a rough time of it. Oh the GERD. I love the new pics--and the artsy stuff you are working on--wowza!

McEwen - paint, paint paint! It has had the redeeming effect on me like you could not imagine. Especially if you used to do it. I was lucky because Dave bought me a beautiful easle last mothers day and helped make a small space to work in our house. This mother's day he bought me paint supplies and my friend Troy set up an art day and 4 of our old classmates from art school all got together at his studio and did art for the day. It was wonderful and how I started this piece. I will keep posting pics of the progress. I hope I get to see some of your work too some day soon.

Danielle - sorry about that. I think Medical Ju-Jitsu would be a very fun board game if someone could get around to making it. I love board games that test your intelligence - keep that mind sharp. But sadly I have no board game to offer up. I do appreciate you thinking about it though. The reflux is just bad, bad, bad even on the meds. She is up for 2-3 hours each night because she is having acid come up in her throat and it hurts.
Re: the painting - that is little baby Ellie when she was first home - all 4 pounds of her. I am going to post some pics of her as an infant soon.

Three things (it was two earlier ;)

1.) Baby Ellie pics are a MUST
2.) I have no idea if this place is helpful and I can't say I endorse it but have you been here: http://www.gerdlingmoms.org/aboutus.htm
3.) Check out the video on my site! Maybe in a few years Ellie can go :::wink:::

Beautiful photos and you are very talented with painting. I can't even draw stick men!

Kathryn, I can't even begin to identify with or comment on all that you are trying to sort out with Ellie right now, so I won't even try. I will just say that I wish both of you nothing but the very best life has to offer, and I hope the right solution for Ellie makes itself known.

The pictures of Ellie holding hands with her Daddy are nothing short of precious, and I love the paintings. You are very talented. I am a disaster when it comes to art. I am glad you have reclaimed this beautiful outlet for yourself.
