If you haven't been over to see the hub of Blogging Against Disablism Day at Diary of a Goldfish - get on over there. Goldfish has done a fantastic job writing about this as well as rounding up many excellent posts on the subject.
Below are the links to some of the many posts I have written about Disablism and it's damaging effects:
It's Just Cerebral Palsy
The Goal to Be Normal
From the Outside Looking In
Protesting the Brutal Murder of Brent Martin
My Two Sense
Even Bigger Picture
I have thought about my own isms quite a bit over the course of my life. There are many out there. Disablism is a central theme in my world today because it is something Ellie does and will face. So when you think about Disablism, think about Ellie. And if you have questions about it or ignorance, just remember anything you do to learn about it or fight it, you are doing to help Ellie and all future and current generations be more accepted in the world.

Hey Kathryn,
I've finally gotten a chance to catch up on your blog. Gosh! Seems like a lot has been going on. I'm so glad to hear about the breakthrough with the neurologist. That's just huge! I'm so proud of Ellie for "Showin 'Em". She's one little hot ticket. Her communication spectrum has grown so much and so fast over the last year. You must be so proud of her. We miss you guys and hope to catch up with you soon.
Give Hugs to Ellie for me.
Hi Kathryn,
I enjoyed catching up a little bit and reading about Dave and Ellie's successful day at the doctor's office. I am glad that Ellie impressed the doctor and made him sit up and listen to what Dave had to say about Ellie. You have an amazing little girl! Give me a call soon so we can catch up!
Love,
Maureen
